DO YOU THINK YOU ARE A CHRISTIAN?

You are not alone! Plenty of people think that living in a country with a Christian heritage makes them Christian themselves. It is not quite that simple. A Christian is someone who makes a positive decision to place his trust in Jesus Christ.

Jesus himself said that He alone was, "the Way, the Truth and the Life" (The Bible: John 14 v.6)

Why Bother
Christians believe that everyone is separated from God by their fundamentally selfish actions, referred to in the Bible as sin. This is as true as pastors or policemen as it is of the worst villains. All those who disobey God, in any way (i.e. all of us) are separated from Him. Since he is the source of life, a life lived without Him is lacking its heart. The Bible states that this is everyone's problem since "all have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God" (The Bible: Romans 3v23)

What can I do about it?
Nothing! No grand gesture, no promise of better ways ahead would be sufficient to bridge that gap between ourselves and God.

Graphic - The bridge between ourselves and God, the Cross

Jesus has bridged the gap for us, paying the debt of our accumulated misdeeds against God in the moment of His crucifixion. "God has made him who had no sin to be sin for us, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God"
(The Bible: 2 Corinthians 5 v21)

What now?
To bridge that gap between yourself and God you need to:

Accept that you have a problem.

Believe that Jesus can do something about it.

Confess your need for him to do so and put your trust in him.
